I'm Passionate About
|
I am a fellowship-trained palliative care physician and pediatrician who attended medical school at the University of Kansas and pediatric residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center prior to training in adult & pediatric palliative medicine at the Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice.
I am a Clinical Professor of Medicine & Pediatrics at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego where I work as a newborn hospitalist, inpatient adult palliative medicine consultant, and home-based pediatric palliative medicine physician, from the Coast to our rural inland. I am Program Director for the combined UC San Diego & Scripps Health Palliative Medicine Physician Fellowship training the next generation of palliative specialists. I care for patients across the lifespan and take particular interest in how I can improve the quality of life for those with chronic pediatric disease, including congenital heart defects, cystic fibrosis, and hemoglobinopathies as well as survivors of pediatric cancers, who are now living well into adulthood. In 2022, San Diego Magazine recognized my work by awarding me the Celebrating Women - Healer Award honoring me as a local woman who has made an impact on the San Diego community. In 2023, California Senate President Pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins recognized me as the 39th Senate District's Woman Making Herstory as a woman leader "accomplishing amazing things in her community." |
